USQ opens Dubai campus without informing the Vice Chancellor; and records a loss of $4.6 million
The University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba is set to open a new campus in Dubai this month and already has 112 students enrolled.
But The Australian understands the first vice-chancellor, Bill Lovegrove, knew of the plan was when he saw an advertisement in a newspaper a fortnight ago.
The three staff, including a deputy vice-chancellor, had their computers seized and were escorted from the university grounds by security staff on Friday.
The three staff on paid leave are deputy vice-chancellor (research and enterprise) Malcolm McKay, director of international Brian Cook and the university's lawyer Neill Grant.
It is understood the matter has been referred to Queensland's Crime and Misconduct Commission.
Vice-chancellor Bill Lovegrove refused to talk to The Australian about the matter last night.
USQ posted a $4.622 million loss, most of which came from the Indelta write-off.
